He will continue to be concerned and worried, as everything shows, about the student trips to Kakopetria, after yesterday's announcement by the Minister of Health, Konstantinos Ioannou, when there is no intention to issue a Decree banning organized student trips.

"Beyond that, we can not do anything, as for example the issuance of Decrees has been requested", said characteristically during last night's announcements for the new measures.

The issuance of the Decree was prepared by several stakeholders who, citing fears of the spread of the virus in the community, demanded that measures be taken due to the large number of students arriving as every year.

The owners of accommodation in the area have already suspended the reservations that students had for this weekend, however, with this development, their hands are tied.

The students are ready for excursions

In statements to SigmaLive, the chairman of the Pancyprian Student Coordinating Committee (PSEM), Dimitris Palatos, said that the students' excursion may be extended for this week, but there is an intention by school Student Councils to proceed with excursions.
"Since this trip is not institutionalized, we can not do anything, such as telling students not to go on trips. What we can do is call on the students to follow the protocols. "We had submitted a proposal last year on this issue and we submitted it this year as well", said the president of PSEM.

On the other hand, the organized parents of Secondary Education, proceeded to an announcement with which they will call on the parents to restrict the students, away from the excursions, after the finding that the Ministry of Health is unable to make decisions.

Such is the announcement
Unfortunately at this time the coronavirus is sweeping our island and the risk of the situation getting out of control is increasing day by day. We are particularly concerned about the fact that a large portion of students, mainly seniors, continue to ignore the danger that exists with the spread of the coronavirus and insist on making excursions / overnight stays in Kakopetria and other mountain resorts.

We call on our students to consider the danger to which they expose themselves, their family and not only the society in which they live, but also the residents of Kakopetria and to cancel these trips. The movement and gathering of more than 500 people in a small village poses incredible risks to everyone's health. The risk of spreading the virus in schools and in the family is real and it scares us all. We wonder if it is worth endangering the health of students, parents and grandparents for two days of "limited fun" which, after all, can be postponed to a later stage when health conditions allow.

Before giving written consent to your child to participate in the trip, we invite you to consider the risk to which your children and your entire family are exposed. At the same time, we must inform you that the Police, as it has stated, will be relentless in enforcing the law and the decrees. Failure to comply with the measures will result in a fine that you will have to pay.

According to the new measures announced yesterday, all restaurants close at 10:30 pm and traffic is prohibited from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am. Children will gather in large groups in hotel rooms as well as in other private accommodation to "have fun". This is prohibited by the relevant decrees for gatherings of more than 10 people and carries a fine, while endangering their health.

In addition, you should consider the consequences for your children's education, whether they should limit themselves either as cases or as contacts, as in the worst case scenario, the schools should be closed.

Dear Gonie, the responsibility lies solely with you and your decision is of paramount importance.

In these difficult times that all of humanity is going through, it is imperative that we all act responsibly and avoid activities that dramatically increase the risk of spreading the virus and endanger the health of all of us.
