Apple Inc. announced yesterday that it has closed all of its 12 stores in New York for shopping as incidence of the coronavirus Omicron variant has increased nationwide.

The company's customers will be able to order products online and pick them up from stores, said an Apple spokesman.

Closed stores include Fifth Avenue, Grand Central Terminal and Soho in Manhattan.

Earlier this month, Apple announced that it had temporarily closed three stores in the United States and Canada, following an increase in its cases. COVID-19, but also exposure among store employees to possible infections.

For the same reason, Apple has made it mandatory for all its customers and staff to use the mask in its US stores.

Globally, concerns about the spread of the Omicron variant have prompted large companies to implement stricter health protocols.
