The Police continues the intensive controls on a nationwide basis, for the observance of the measures and the implementation of the Decrees of the Law on Infection.

Specifically, in the last 24 hours (6 am yesterday Saturday 01/01/22 - 6 am today Sunday 02/01/22) 2,980 Cypriot checks were carried out, of which 1,745 concerned safe pass checks, while a total of 13 complaints were made by citizens and 11 complaints of premises for violation of the Law on Infection.

As far as citizens are concerned, the majority of complaints concerned the non-use of a protective mask.

Most of the complaints at the premises concerned the absence of markings and the absence of controls at the entrance for safepass, while employees and customers were identified as not having safe passpass, as follows:

Limassol Province:

An extrajudicial notice of payment of a sum of € 1,000 was issued to the kiosk owner, as he did not exercise control over the validity of the safepasses at the entrance of the premises.

An extrajudicial notice of payment of a sum of € 1,000 was also issued to the owner of a supermarket, after he had allowed the entry of his premises to a large number of customers.

Without safepass, they were found to be patrons in two premises, for which extrajudicial notices of payment of amounts of € 1,000 and € 500, respectively, were issued to the persons in charge of the premises, because they allowed the entry of these persons in their premises.

In addition, an extrajudicial notice of payment of a sum of € 500 was issued to the owner of the premises, after allowing spectators to dance on his premises.

In addition, in another premises there was no check for possession of a safepass certificate at the entrance of customers and employees, nor were there the necessary markings.

Paphos Province:

For three premises (two betting agencies and a bar) a file was formed for a Court.

An employee of a betting agency was found to be working without a safe pass and without a protective mask. In addition, there were no antiseptics and no safepass service at the premises, computers were nearby and there was no ventilation.

At the second betting agency, an employee was found to be working without a safe pass, there was no customer information and antiseptics, and no individuals were listed.

As for the bar, it was found that there was no ventilation and it operated without a license, drink and music license.

Also, in a third betting agency, an out-of-court notice of payment of a sum of € 500 was issued, since there were no antiseptics, nor was there an employee heat measurement.

Finally, an extrajudicial notice of payment of a sum of € 500 was issued to the owner of a fast food restaurant, after he was found to be working responsibly without safepass, there were no customer updates and antiseptic at the entrance, while no thermometers and people were listed.

It is reminded that the supervision of the measures is not only the responsibility of the Police and the other competent public services, but the responsibility of all.
