Dr. Karagiannis expressed the view that the Oxford vaccine could be released by September. Dr. Karagiannis clarified that the quantities will not be enough to vaccinate the entire population and for this reason priority should be given to the elderly and vulnerable groups.
He noted that children and adolescents are not in danger while Dr. Karagiannis believes that anyone over 50 could be vaccinated by the first.
The results of the Oxford vaccine will be announced next Monday, July 20th. Regarding the US vaccine, Dr. Karagiannis said that it may not be available soon due to the fact that the first findings indicate that two doses of this vaccine will be needed.
