Karagiannis: Universal lockdown is not justified at the moment (VIDEO)

What Dr. Petros Karagiannis said about yesterday's meeting of epidemiologists with the PTD

"All measures were put on the table", during last night's (10/11) extraordinary session of the epidemiological team under the President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis, said in the show Mesimeri kai Kati, the professor of Molecular Virology of the Medical School of the University of Nicosia , Dr. Petros Karagiannis.

Specifically, Dr. Karagiannis said that, during the session, a series of measures entered the table. "We talked about stricter measures but also about the most extreme ones, but no decisions were made."

Dr. Karagiannis explained that various approaches were discussed from the mildest to the most severe. Among the toughest measures discussed is the case of a universal lockdown such as in March.

"Most of us said that such a measure is not justified at the moment, but it can be based on the epidemiological picture that we will have in the next three days. I think we have to be patient for a few days to see if the measures that are in force until November 16 pay off. "We have not given the opportunity to the measures announced last week to work," he said.

He added that everything went in the basket. "What will come out of the basket depends on the Council of Ministers. The President stated 48 hours for the measures, we did not have information when they will be announced ".

The three new deaths at the Reference Hospital

Regarding the three deaths at the Reference Hospital, Dr. Karagiannis said that we have such a number of deaths to see from the first wave in Cyprus.

"We expected to have deaths but we hoped to avoid it. We must all understand that we are endangering the oldest and most vulnerable with any of our behavior. "If there is no control of the situation then things are not auspicious even for Christmas," he said.
