The professor of Molecular Virology of the University of Cyprus, Dr. Petros Karagiannis, spoke on the show Protoselido about the rationale of the presentation that the epidemiological team will convey to President Anastasiadis during tomorrow's meeting.

According to Dr. Karagiannis, everything will depend on the results of the sampling tests that we will have today but maybe tomorrow shortly before the meeting.

"There is a stabilization in the number of cases. The provinces of Limassol and Paphos have started and are coming down in numbers. Especially Paphos. "There is an increase in Nicosia," he said.

He added that "we must take into account the measures to be observed, to reduce our movements, if we do not want to have horizontal measures."
Asked if Nicosia could enter a peculiar lockdown like the one in Limassol and Paphos, Dr. Karagiannis said that he does not consider it necessary at the moment for Nicosia to enter a peculiar lockdown.

"Nicosia has a larger population and per capita the numbers are satisfactory," he explained.

Asked if Paphos should be quarantined after the test results, Dr. Karagiannis said that the city is doing very well and it is no longer justified to be in this status.

Finally, Dr. Karagiannis said that "if we do not want to have new measures in mid-January, the cases must fall in numbers."
