OSAK complains: "OKYPY is headless in the central administration and in the regions of Larnaca - Famagusta and Nicosia"

OSAK once again calls on the state to take all necessary measures that will ensure their smooth operation.

The Federation of Patients' Associations of Cyprus (OSAK) expresses its intense concern and concern in an announcement in relation to the continuing instability that is observed in the administration of OKYPY (Organization of State Health Services).

"OKYPY once again and in the midst of a pandemic remains headless both in the central administration and in the regions of Larnaca-Famagusta and Nicosia", he adds.

He also states that public hospitals are in a very difficult position, having to deal with the pandemic which is on the rise, and at the same time suffers from multiple problems which concern issues of administration, organization and modernization.

"Public hospitals are the backbone of GESS and must be protected at all costs. Once again the patients are spectators in the same work. In a situation which does not happen and should not be allowed to continue ", he adds.

OSAK publicly expresses its strong concern as its predictions and fears have been confirmed once again, as it states in its announcement.

"This is not the first time he has referred to the negative and problematic situations that prevail in the management of the Organization which do not allow it to effectively implement the legislation for the autonomy of public hospitals", he states.

"We, the organized patients, have been calling for months now for the Government to act immediately to take drastic measures before the situation completely escapes without any chances of success of the autonomy of the public hospitals with their future being in absolute question", he adds.

OSAK once again calls on the state to take all necessary measures that will ensure their smooth operation.

"Specifically, the immediate restructuring and strengthening of the Board of Directors of OKYPY with people who have experience in the field and in large health organizations is required", notes.

Judges as "Equally important" the immediate promotion of the bill which provides for the inclusion of OSAK in the Board of Directors of OKYPY, according to the standards of OAY with the right to vote.

"At the same time, the reorganization of the organization's addresses, their proper staffing, as well as the scientific committees with the participation of representatives of the organized patients are expected", he adds.

As he states, a requested and perhaps last opportunity is the promotion of decisions, which will ensure the successful autonomy of public hospitals, which will have positive results in the implementation of the GESS and at the same time in the quality of health services provided in our country. .

OSAK warns, finally, that Repetition of the practices and mistakes of the past or inaction in making decisions for corrective changes, will burden the Government with very heavy responsibilities for the process of modernization and autonomy of public hospitals.
