A 31-year-old man, who allegedly tried to break into a house in Paphos, was arrested by members of the Police, who located the suspect illegally on the roof of a second house in the area.

The attempted burglary was allegedly committed around 10.00 on Tuesday night, by a suspicious man who tried unsuccessfully to break through the front door of the house with physical violence. The owner of the house informed the Police around 2.00 after midnight.

Examinations carried out at the scene by members of the Paphos OPE, revealed that the perpetrator of the attempt was 31 years old, who had previously been located by the OPE members, on the roof of a second home and was arrested for the spontaneous offense of illegal entry into property.

The suspect was noticed by the owner of the second house, shortly before 11.00 pm, when he entered the yard of her house and then went up to the roof of the house. After the owner informed the Police, members of the OPE rushed to the spot where they located the 31-year-old on the roof of the house and proceeded to arrest him.

The 31-year-old suspect was taken into custody to facilitate the investigations, with the Paphos TAE and the Paphos Minor Offenses Department continuing the examinations.
