CYPRUS: 17-year-old "took off" with 210km on the highway - Pursuit followed

Members of the Road Accident Prevention Unit, in the context of traffic controls, located around 3 am today on the Limassol - Nicosia highway despite the exit of Tseri, a car moving at a speed of 210 km / h instead of 100 which is the maximum limit by law.

The driver of the car was signaled to stop but he failed to do so and headed to Nicosia.

Members of the Traffic Police followed the specific vehicle which was stopped on Dimitris Stavrou Avenue in Latsia.

During the subsequent inspection, it was found that the driver of the vehicle was 17 years old with four other passengers aged 17-19 years. It was also found that the young man was driving without being covered by a safety certificate.

The 17-year-old was arrested and taken to the Pera Chorio Nisos Police Station, where he was charged in writing and released to appear before the Nicosia District Court this morning for immediate registration of the case. The 30-year-old registered owner of the vehicle is also expected to be charged in writing.
