CYPRUS: A new case of coronavirus - It had recently come from abroad

Regarding the new cases of the disease COVID-19, according to the data from the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit of the Ministry of Health, out of a total of 1,191 laboratory diagnoses, 1 case of SARS-CoV-2 virus was detected.

In particular, the HIV-positive person was identified by 302 samples taken on a private initiative. The person has a recent travel history.

In addition, the following laboratory diagnoses were performed, without detecting a case:

  • From the control program of 10,000 employees who were reactivated during the second and third phase of the strategy for gradual lifting of the restrictions, 124 laboratory tests were completed.
  • As a result of the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 20 laboratory diagnoses were completed.
  • From the samples taken in the control of passengers and repatriates, 348 laboratory tests were performed.
  • From the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 174 laboratory tests were completed,
  • From the immigrant structure control program, the laboratory test for 12 samples was completed, and
  • From the samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics, 211 laboratory tests were performed.

Based on current data, the total number of positive cases amounted to 1,005.

In addition, the patient who was treated at the General Hospital of Famagusta was discharged. Therefore, at this time there is no patient with COVID-19 in hospitals all over Cyprus.
