CYPRUS: New increases are coming "fire" in the electricity bills

New increases are expected in the June electricity bills, which will amount to at least 5% for household customers.

According to the EAC spokesperson, Christina Papadopoulou, the price of a kilowatt hour is adjusted every month, since the price of oil changes internationally. These fluctuations in oil prices also affect the EAC accounts, since if there is an increase it will be passed on to customers.

Christina Papadopoulou explained that the EAC maintains oil reserves for three months. In January, according to him, there were reductions in bills, as the price of oil was low.

However, in recent months there has been an increase in the price of oil, so this delayed increase of 5% will be observed in the June accounts.

In fact, he did not rule out the possibility that these increases will continue next or the following month, but this will depend on many factors, such as demand and exchange rates.
