CYPRUS: Tests decreased, positivity rate launched - 2.332 new cases

187 patients COVID-19 of which 82 are in serious condition. 85,03% of patients do not have a history of vaccination

The Ministry of Health announces that today, January 1 2022:

- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded COVID-19, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 638.

- 187 patients COVID-19 of which 82 are in serious condition. 85,03% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

- 16 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in intubated condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

- A total of 38,977 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 2,332 (positivity rate: 5,98%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases in 169,159.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

No patient deaths were recorded with COVID-19. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 remains 638, of which:

405 men (63,5%), and

- 233 women (36,5%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 187 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 82 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 82 patients in serious condition, 32 are intubated, 4 are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 46 to an intensive care unit.

C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 38,977 diagnoses made, 8,525 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 30,452 by the method of antigen rapid test, 2332 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 57 cases of 4,674 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 388 cases from 3,615 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 21 cases from 236 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1008 cases from 14,473 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 858 cases from 15,979 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.
