More than 83 thousand citizens participated in the control programs with the method of rapid antigen tests of the Ministry of Health.
In a statement, the competent Ministry states that more than 69 thousand citizens of Cyprus were tested in the period from November 16 to December 1, 2020, with the method of antigen rapid test, as part of the population control program, which is in progress since 16 November.
In addition, it notes that 13.708 tests were targeted at nursing homes / rehabilitation centers / other closed structures, as well as at the National Guard and health professionals.
According to the tests, which are carried out with the method of rapid tests, are part of the Government's strategy for increased controls in the general population, while the use of this method allows for a quick indication of the epidemiological picture in the community and allows action to be taken. where and where the need arises.
Specifically, in the District of Nicosia 31.385 rapid tests were performed, with 566 positive results, while in the District of Limassol 13.944 were performed with 258 positive results.
Also, in Larnaca District 13.539 rapid tests were performed, with 335 positive results, in Paphos District 5.640 with 64 positive results were performed and in the Province of Famagusta 4.879 with 138 positive results.
In addition, 1.662 with 24 positive results were performed on nursing homes, 6.483 with 19 positive results on the National Guard and 5.563 with 34 positive results on health professionals.
Points for sampling units for population control with rapid tests
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health informs that for tomorrow, December 3, 2020, the sampling units for the control of the general population will be located in Limassol at the Church of Apostolos Andreas and Timios Prodromos, in Mesa Geitonia from 08:30 to 16: 30 and in the Church of Panagia Havouzas, in Polemidia from 08:00 to 17:00.
In the Province of Larnaca they will be in the parking lot of the Sklavenitis supermarket, in the parking lot of Economidis on Lordou Vyronas Street and in the Community Clinic of Anafotia from 08:30 to 17:00, while in the District of Nicosia they will be in the City Hall of Lakatamaros, Me Dimotiko , at the State Exhibition Center, in front of the Eastern Entrance, at the Prodromos Post Office in Strovolos and at the Church of Panagia Evangelistria from 09:30 to 17:00.
In the Province of Paphos they will be at the City Hall from 08:30 to 17:00 and at King's Avenue Mall from 09:30 to 17:00, while in the Province of Famagusta they will be at Agios Georgios Square in Paralimni from 08:30 until 17:00.
The Ministry of Health notes that the program is addressed to all citizens and especially and with priority, those who are employed in public service areas, distributors and front line professionals.
Citizens will be informed of the result of their laboratory test by text message within 24 hours, but also in writing, if they wish, by the mobile units within 30 'of the sampling.
