PASYXE: The categorization of Cyprus in red by Israel is a negative development

"It seems that our epidemiological relapse is unfortunately a deterrent for some to either travel to our country and for others to categorize us, such as Germany and Israel in the red zone, thus reducing the potential for attracting other tourist flows."

The General Manager of the Pancyprian Hoteliers Association (PASYXE), Filokypros Rousounidis, characterized the categorization of Cyprus by Israel in the red zone as a negative development, saying that there will be several cancellations of flights from this destination.

Speaking to KYPE, Mr. Rousounidis said that Cyprus has not had a large tourist influx from Israel lately, although it had started with high expectations when the market opened.

"It seems that our epidemiological relapse is unfortunately a deterrent for some to either travel to our country and for others to categorize us, such as Germany and Israel in the red zone, as a result of which the possibilities of attracting other tourist currents are reduced." write down.

We want to see, he continued, how the UK market will evolve. "Within the next week we will see a reorganization of flights, we will have before us numbers, the reservations that will be made and we will make an assessment to see the losses from Israel, what we can attract from Great Britain," he said.

He noted that 20-25% of the tourists we currently have in Cyprus are from Russia, while a small influx is observed from Slovakia and Poland.

"We hope that the measures taken by the government will be able to improve our epidemiological picture as soon as possible, so that we have the conditions to continue to build in it even the small influx that we have at the moment and with the belief that we are extending the season as well ", he added.
