The Decree of the Minister of Health was published today, which was published today in the Official Gazette of the Republic and which postpones from July 17 all scheduled surgeries for public and private hospitals and sets a maximum bed occupancy of 70 in private hospitals. %, and 60% in the Intensive Care Units.

The Minister of Health, exercising the powers given to him by Article 6 (a), (b), (c), (d), (e) and (g) of the Law on Infectious Diseases, Chapter 260 and which were assigned to him by the Decision of the Council of Ministers dated March 3, 2021, issues the following Decree:

Because, the protection of public health and the health care system are the responsibility of the Republic and due to the urgent need arising from the epidemiological data in order to limit the spread of Coronavirus disease COVID-19, the protection of public health, but also the prevention of possible collapse of the health system from the spread of the virus, taking into account the requirements in human resources and logistics that will be necessary to deal with the rapid spread of the virus and because it is necessary to take additional necessary measures, and Official Journal, Annex Three (I): 23.3.2020.

Because with a Notification published in the Official Gazette of the Republic, following the authorization of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Health declared as infected local areas with the Koronovirus COVID-19 pursuant to Article 4 of the Law on Dehydration, Chapter 260, the Provinces of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Famagusta and Paphos, and

Because, given that the vaccination program for his disease COVID-19 is progressing satisfactorily and that by 14 July 2021, 68,5% had received the first dose of the vaccine and 59,9% had completed the vaccination schedule, but at the same time, from 8 July to 14 July 2021, 5,724 cases had been reported, while the average number of patients treated daily is between 150 and 165 patients per day and given that during the above period three deaths of patients were recorded with the ultimate cause of death being the disease COVID-19, and that the rate of positive diagnostic tests for Coronavirus disease COVID-19, is 1,8%, the following Regulations are issued for the Provinces of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Famagusta and Paphos:

2. Regulation 2.12 of the Infectious Diseases (Definition of Measures to Prevent the Spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19) Decree (No. 28) of 2021, deleted and repealed. 3. (a) From 17η July 2021 at 01.00 am, all public and private hospitals postpone all scheduled surgeries and admissions for patients whose health condition allows and no danger or threat to human life :

It is understood that day care clinics, outpatient visits to outpatient clinics and day care facilities in clinics, polyclinics and private hospitals are excluded,

(b) from 17η July 2021 at 01.00 a.m. the maximum bed occupancy in private hospitals is set at 70%, with the exception of beds in the Intensive Care Unit for which the maximum bed occupancy is set at 60%.

4. This Decree enters into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic.
