Greece and Cyprus expect the international and European community to adopt a more decisive stance, which will make it clear to Turkey that it is not possible for it to continue to act undisturbed and without consequences. This was underlined by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis, speaking at the 13th General Assembly of the World Interparliamentary Union of Hellenism, which is being held in Athens.

Mr. Anastasiadis underlined that Recep Tayyip Erdogan's moves in Varosi once again reveal the real and long-term goals of Turkey, "which are none other than full sovereignty over Cyprus, either through a two-state solution or the creation of a federal in which the Turkish Cypriot component state, which is under the full control of Turkey, will have the decisive role in the governance of the country ".

"As a result of the new provocative Turkish decision, Cyprus and Greece, acting together, have joined all European and international forums, resulting in the unanimous and strong condemnation by the UN Security Council of the Turkish leadership's announcements about the occupied city." stressed President Anastasiadis.

At the same time, the President of the Republic of Cyprus underlined that his presence in the World Interparliamentary Union of Hellenism confirms the inseparable and fraternal ties between Greece and Cyprus but also the sympathy and determination that distinguishes the two countries in defending the law and common goals of Hellenism. .

"Our national positions do not pose a threat to any third country, they are based on respect for international law, human rights and good neighborly relations, with the sole aim of serving the objectives of peace, security, stability and prosperity for the our countries and the wider region ", underlined Nikos Anastasiadis.
