President Anastasiades reiterated that it is during his own administration that the ATA was reinstated and that "the Government of those who spoke out yesterday" abolished it, noting that "finally in this place there must also be logic". The statements were made during the President's attendance at an event in Larnaca to honor health professionals.

Noting that in today's general strike, the unions blamed the Government, the President questioned why they blamed the Government that reinstated the institution in 2017, "when those who were speaking out today, it was their Government that abolished it".

The President reiterated that the institution was abolished not during the present administration and that the current administration reinstated ATA and supports and supports the right of workers to ATA, but for there to be a conclusion an agreement is required between employers and employees.

"There was a gap of positions between employer organizations and trade unions and that is why (the effort) failed. It is not enough for the Government to say that it supports and gradual implementation would be the most ideal", said the President of the Republic.

He said that the other side, which is the employers, disagree and therefore further dialogue is needed.

"I don't particularly accept them making lessons or even shouting - I heard a lady shouting today - about something for which she should apologize to the workers", he said.
