The low barometric "Elpis" that sweeps Greece, will not affect Cyprus in the same intensity, said on the SIGMA show "Mesimeri kai Kati", the Director of the Meteorological Department Kleanthis Nikolaidis.
As he mentioned, there will be rains in Cyprus, however, the snowfall will be limited to areas with an altitude of over 600 meters.
A yellow warning for rain and thunderstorms will be in force until 16:00 in the afternoon, while in the evening the weather will remain partly cloudy with isolated rain mainly on the coasts, without excluding the occurrence of isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the west.
A gradual decline of the phenomena is expected gradually from this afternoon, while the phenomena will be less tomorrow, said Mr. Nikolaidis.
At the same time he noted that tonight will be a cold night, with the temperature inside around 3 degrees, at 8 on the west coast, around 6 on the rest of the coast and around -5 degrees in the higher mountains. Frost will form in the mountains, semi-mountains and leeward areas of the interior.
Tomorrow the weather will be partly cloudy and at times cloudy while mainly in the afternoon, local rains or isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly in the western half of the island. In the higher mountains, temporary snowfall is expected.
The temperature will rise to around 10 degrees inland and on the coast and to zero degrees in the higher mountains. Frost will form in the mountains, semi-mountains and leeward areas of the interior.
