The Ministry of Education issued a statement on Tuesday expressing its sorrow for the death of Kika Olympiou, a distinguished philologist, with a significant contribution to the educational and cultural events of Cyprus, as it states.

According to the Ministry of Education, Kika Olympiou was born in the village of Marathovounos in the province of Famagusta in 1939. She graduated from the Pancyprian High School and studied Greek Philology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She worked as a philologist in Secondary Education and retired as a principal. At the same time, she contributed to the educational union, which she served from various positions.

The deceased has been involved in book criticism and presentation for decades, as well as writing school aids in the field of literature. Much of her writing is scattered in the daily and magazine press. She was a collaborator of the Cyprus Radio Foundation, in cultural radio and television shows.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, in recognition of its diverse offer in the field of letters and culture, had offered her, among other things, the honorary positions of member of the Advisory Committee of the Cyprus Library and the Advisory Committee of Letters.
