More than 75% of the medical staff has been vaccinated, while the vaccination coverage of nurses is lower and specifically, below 45%, according to the Spokesperson of the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) Charalambos Charilaou.

In his statements to KYPE, Mr. Charilaou stated that they have implemented a targeted program of information, encouragement and encouragement of health professionals and expressed the hope that in the end this percentage will increase.

There is, he added, increased interest in the last week, where some conditions are set and he expressed the hope in the near future that a larger number of health professionals will be vaccinated.

Meanwhile, a large number of patients are still being treated in the COVID-19 wards of public hospitals, according to Mr. Charilaou, who said that the number of patients treated with coronary artery was 225, which is the largest number of patients since the beginning of the pandemic.

Of the 225 patients with coronavirus, 33 are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit and another 24 are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, he said.

Indicatively, he mentioned that 1 in 4 patients is treated either in an Intensive Care Unit or in an Intensive Care Unit, where their condition is judged from serious to critical.

He added that what they have noticed in recent days is that there is a gradual increase in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.

He added that in addition to the patients with COVID-19, who are treated in the Intensive Care Unit, another large number of patients - 15 to 20 daily - are treated in this Unit with other diseases.

Mr. Charilaou stated that this further burdens the Intensive Care Unit.

In addition, he stressed that their effort is focused on finding beds in the private sector, for such incidents, in order to decongest the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia.

Regarding the Paphos General Hospital, Mr. Charilaou said that currently 21 patients with coronavirus are being treated, of which 3 in the Intensive Care Unit, while the discharge of patients with coronavirus from the Paphos General Hospital has begun.

He also said that the General Hospitals of Paphos and Larnaca, which treat a large number of patients, have given great breath to the other Hospitals that were from the beginning involved in the management of the pandemic, he concluded.
