The extension of the domestic tourism support plan until the end of May and a new subsidy plan for Cypriot catering centers totaling € 420.000, announced the Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios, after the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
In his statements, Mr. Perdios referred to two important decisions that were taken after a suggestion of the Ministry of State.
"The first concerns the plan to boost domestic tourism, extending until the end of May," he said. He reminded that the maximum price is 60 euros per double with breakfast and the Ministry of Tourism will subsidize 35% of this cost for the beneficiaries.
Mr. Perdios went on to say that the second decision concerns the launch of a new grant plan for leisure centers.
His purpose, he explained, "is to upgrade the gastronomy sector and especially the catering sector, which concerns entirely the traditional Cypriot products, our taverns and the centers that offer Cypriot cuisine".
He also said that the beneficiaries will be individual companies, adding that the plan will not concern companies or entrepreneurs who have more than one restaurant, nor will those who have "franchise" companies be beneficiaries.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism stated that "the plan concerns the improvement of infrastructure, whether it is in sanitary areas, or in the general configuration of the dining area". But, in particular, he added, "it will help replace furniture, ie tables and chairs."
Certainly, he clarified, "there will be no subsidy for those who want to buy plastic chairs".
We want in this way, underlined Mr. Perdios, "to help improve the image of our traditional restaurants and our gastronomy in general".
He announced that the grant will reach 75%, with a maximum expenditure by the Ministry of State of 20.000 euros and the total amount that will be allocated from this project is 420.000 euros.
If savings arise along the way, there is a possibility of increasing this amount, he said.
