Answer to announcement issued last Thursday by the Candidate for the Presidency of the Provincial Organization of Famagusta, his rival, Theodoros Pyrillis, posted. The occasion was the proposal of Yiannis Karousos for the organization of a unique cross-channel public debate between the candidates for the EOA. In his response, Theodoros Pyrillis counter-proposed the organization of an open debate in each municipal district as well as holding joint debates between all the candidates, open with the participation of the public in each municipal district of Famagusta District.

"DEBATES FOR FULL TRANSPARENCY
In these elections, the citizens of El. Famagusta District are invited to elect a President of the Famagusta District Self-Governing Organization.
It is our duty as candidates to inform the citizens about the responsibilities of the EOA, but also about our vision and the way it will be implemented.
In this way we will protect the citizens from empty declarations and promises that are not related to the responsibilities of the President of the Provincial Organization. The citizens of each municipal district have a right to know, and each candidate has an obligation to inform about his vision.

"Friends,
I am taking the initiative for a meaningful, effective and unique debate of candidates for the Famagusta District Self-Governing Organization, which will aim to properly inform our fellow citizens about our positions.
My proposal, which is addressed to all my opponents, is to hold a large public debate, in the presence of all the Mass Media, including local and organized groups of our province, which will also be broadcast online with live streaming .
I am of the opinion that the debates between the candidates should be as efficient, meaningful and productive as possible with the participation of citizens so that they can form an opinion and get immediate answers. As a starting point, we owe it to the organization to take place in our province, giving the opportunity to all of us to analyze our vision and programmatic positions.
Soon the specific proposal will be sent to my opponents and to the media with the aim of meeting the staffs and agreeing on the procedure for conducting the debate.
This is also the position I will hold in this pre-election period, for a one and only debate and I hope the anti-candidates will respond positively."
