The submission of candidacies for the presidential elections of January 28 has been completed at the "Filoxenia" Conference Center. A total of nine applications were submitted.
Candidates submitted in order: Haris Aristeidou, Christakis Kapiliotis, Andreas Efstratiou, Michalis Mina, Christos Christou, Stavros Malas, Nikolas Papadopoulos, George Lillikas, Nikolas Papadopoulos and Nikos Anastasiadis.
Each candidate was nominated by one person and supported by another hundred. Along with his candidacy, he submitted a fee of two thousand euros, which will be returned if the candidate secures at least 3% of the electorate. Otherwise the amount remains in the state coffers.

The head of the Election Service, Dimitris Dimitriou, told RIK that an objection against any candidacy can be submitted by any person whose name is registered in the electoral roll.
The objection is delivered to the General Electoral Commissioner, no later than six hours (until 18:00) after the end of the time set for the submission of candidacies.
The Chief Electoral Officer may also, of his own motion, declare any application documents invalid and immediately inform the candidate concerned of his decision, which can only be overturned by an Electoral Application.
