Everything is ready for the presidential elections of January 28, says the election commissioner of the Limassol constituency, Deputy Prefect, Marios Alexandrou, on the occasion of today's handing over of the ballots to the presidents of the polling stations.

In his statements, Mr. Alexandrou stated that, from the Limassol constituency, "everything is ready, all the polling stations have been prepared, the fax machines and telephone lines have been checked, so that we can be sure that absolutely no problems will arise" .

The chairpersons, in the 305 polling stations of the Limassol constituency, received the ballots from the First Primary School of Limassol, after the required control was done.

The delivery of the ballots started at 8.30 in the morning and was completed around 13.00, while as Mr. Alexandrou said, "the process was divided into two phases for congestion avoidance purposes".

Inside the polls, he continued, there are all the required forms, stamps, pens and ballots per polling station, while upon receipt, the chairpersons check the material to make sure there is no omission.

He also pointed out that two information seminars have been held for the presidents on the process to be followed and "they have received very clear instructions, especially for some small changes compared to previous election processes".

Typically, he stated that following instructions from the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, the identity number of the voter will not be mentioned but the number of his ballot paper.

"This has been emphasized to the presidents and a message will be sent to their mobile phones, to consolidate it as it is easy for someone who has taken part in many electoral processes to get carried away and out of habit to shout the ID number," he added.

In addition, noted Marios Alexandrou, the chairmen have been stressed to help voters in relation to exactly where the symbol should be placed in favor of the candidate of their choice, "which should be on the square under the photo of the candidate, since if it is anywhere else, the ballot is considered invalid ".

There are 152,115 registered voters in the Limassol constituency, and around 1,600 civil servants and 318 unemployed scientists will work on election day.
