Slight decrease in tourism revenue in January on an annual basis

Increase in tourist spending per capita - Poland is the second market, Greece is the third

Tourists from Greece (third largest market at 11,8%) spent €40,85 per day, compared to €35,97 in January 2023

There was a slight decrease in tourism revenue in January 2024, compared to January 2023, while the per capita expenditure of tourists increased.

Specifically, according to the Statistical Service, based on the results of the Travelers Survey, tourism revenues in January 2024 amounted to €45,2 million compared to €45,6 million in the corresponding month of the previous year, marking a decrease 0,9%.

It is noted that in January 2024 tourist arrivals decreased slightly to 87.961 compared to 90.549 in January 2023.

Cost Analysis

According to the Statistical Service, the per capita expenditure of tourists in January 2024 amounts to €513,52, compared to €503,83 in January 2023, marking an increase of 1,9%.

British tourists (the largest tourist market with 18,6% of all tourists in January 2024) spent an average of €52,73 per day, compared to €49,84 in January last year.

Polish tourists (the second largest tourist market during the month at 18,2% of the total) spent an average of €67,90, compared to €62,61 in January 2023.

Tourists from Greece (third largest market at 11,8%), spent €40,85 per day, compared to €35,97 in January 2023.

Tourists from Israel (fourth largest market) spent €118,34 per day, compared to €145,63 in January 2023.
