The Tourism Development and Promotion Company of Famagusta Region together with a large delegation consisting of hotels and other businesses of the province, strongly attended the leading international tourism exhibition in Berlin "ITB BERLIN 2024", which took place between 5-7 March 2024.

During the exhibition, the representatives of ETAP Famagusta and the businessmen of the area had the opportunity to make contacts and meet with leading players of the German tourism market, with tour operators active in important tourist markets for Cyprus, such as that of Germany and of the United Kingdom, but also with technology solutions, innovation and promotion companies in the field of tourism.

Through the contacts, in addition to the challenges that the German economy clearly has to face, tourism internationally and by extension also in Cyprus within 2024, there was moderate optimism that tourist flows will move around last year's levels, with a possible slight decrease . Interest was also recorded from the point of view of travel organizers, regarding the Famagusta area, on the one hand in relation to special forms of tourism, such as hiking, cycling, diving, gastronomy, rural tourism-agritourism, etc., and on the other hand in , regarding mass tourism for the summer months.

In the context of its contacts, ETAP Famagusta prioritized highlighting the comparative advantages of the entire area and the different activities that visitors can enjoy throughout the year, with a particular focus on families with children, young couples and to visitors over 55 years of age.

He particularly promoted the application for mobile phones created for the convenience of each visitor, the virtual tour with image and details of each point of interest in the Famagusta area, such as the efforts to digitize the tourism product. Emphasis was also placed on efforts to strengthen sustainability in tourism, which is one of the most important trends internationally.

In his statements, the Officer of ETAP Famagusta, Mr. Giorgos Kavkalias, pointed out the importance of the German market for the tourism of the region and Cyprus in general, as it is, as he said, the largest market in Europe, with significant scope for strengthening tourist flows , within the next few years. "ETAP's aim is to participate in all important international tourism exhibitions within the year, with the aim of promoting the province, as well as contributing to the efforts of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism to promote Cyprus abroad", he stressed.

Mr. Kavkalias, sent the message that the province of Famagusta undoubtedly has some of the best and cleanest beaches in Cyprus, with international awards and recognition, however, it has many more experiences to offer to every visitor, from Cyprus and abroad, throughout the year. The goal for ETAP Famagusta, through the cooperation of all the agencies of the region, is to achieve the continuous upgrading of the tourist product for the good of the local society and Cyprus in general.
