There is a suitable ground for Cyprus-China cooperation in the tourism sector, said the Deputy Minister of Tourism Mr. Savvas Perdios, who accompanies the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis in Beijing.
In his statements, Mr. Perdios said that “today I had meetings with various travel agents from China in the context of our common interest in developing our relations at the tourism level.
What we can say is that the ground is suitable, it seems that there is interest, not only from our side, but also from theirs. We recently announced that our goal is to develop our tourism product in such a way that we can attract visitors from China, generally from distant destinations, through, perhaps, some other countries, such as the Middle East.
That was the main topic of my meetings today, and it looks like we will have a happy ending soon. The mood is there, there are flights to our nearby markets and that is where we aim to see how visitors from as far away as China, as part of their wider journey to the Eastern Mediterranean, can visit Cyprus for a few days as part of their travel.
The issue of direct air connection with China is being considered, but, as a State Department, since there are already flights in our nearby areas, we believe that it would be good to use them ".
