2012 will be the age of ultra-thin laptops, ultrabooks, as this year's trends in the "barometer" of the world market, the international exhibition of electronic consumer "gadgets" are erased CES in Las Vegas, USA…

Taiwanese company Acer has introduced the world's thinnest laptop, the Aspire S5, which is just 15 millimeters thick at its thickest point, thus winning the lead over Apple's MacBook Air, which is two millimeters thicker.

The Acer machine, which activates in just one and a half seconds, is the first of at least 75 models of ultrabooks, which are expected to hit the market this year from various manufacturers. Ultrabooks, as a category of computers, are considered to be competitors of tablet PCs, such as the iPad.

The Acer S5 weighs about 1,35 kg and its battery, according to the company, can last for weeks without recharging. It has a 13,3-inch LCD screen, exterior made of magnesium-aluminum alloy and a very fast Thunderbolt data transfer port.

The machine, which allows access to it from a "smart" mobile phone, works with an Intel processor, while it has ports for SSD card, fast USB 3.0 and HDMI. It will be released in the spring at a still unknown price.

For its part, the American company Intel introduced ultrabooks that can only be controlled by gestures through built-in sensors. At the same time, they allow the user to make purchases with a credit card, simply by passing the card over the ultrabook, as the machine has the new "near field communication" technology, thus relieving the user from the obligation to enter his card details on the screen. .

The new ultrabooks are accompanied by special anti-theft technology. Intel is also partnering with Nuance, which has developed Siri voice recognition and voice creation software for Apple.

As the company announced, a large relevant advertising campaign will start in April. Its goal is to promote the idea of a new generation of ultrabooks that will be controlled remotely, through gestures or voice, while its ultimate goal is laptops to offer "live" translation.
