The new version for Greek users, who will be able to try it and evaluate its new features, is already available for "download" at http://windows.microsoft.com/el-GR/windows-8/consumer-preview. The version is available internationally for download in English, French, German, Japanese and Chinese.

It was preceded by the trial version of Windows 8 Developer Preview for IT professionals, which was released at the end of last year and which has already been "downloaded" by over three million users.

The Windows 8 Consumer Preview, which was officially unveiled at a special event at the Mobile World International Exhibition in Barcelona, ​​among other things, launches the beta operation of the online store "Windows Store", which has a number of new applications, developed both from independent producers, as well as from Microsoft itself. Users will be able to download the available applications for free initially, but after the official release of Windows 8 some of them will have to buy them.

Users also have the opportunity to get a taste of the new Internet Explorer 10 program, which was designed from the ground up to provide a new navigation experience specifically for Windows 8 devices.

The new Windows 8 will be suitable for desktops as well as laptops and tablets. Users can either use the traditional mouse and keyboard or the touch of their fingers, but this feature will not be available in the trial version for most users, who will have to wait until the official release of the software in September. or October.

From an aesthetic and functional point of view, the new operating system has several changes, which go beyond the data of Windows so far. Among other things, the computer starts in a maximum of eight seconds, much faster than Windows 7.

For the first time, Windows 8 will be able to run on devices that do not have Intel processors but other "chips" used in mobile phones and iPads, which is expected to facilitate Microsoft's penetration in the tablet PC market. , which is currently dominated by Apple.

Windows 7 appeared in October 2009 and since then the company has sold more than 525 million copies.
