Akis Dimos THE EMPTY SELF a comedy about defeat is coming to the Xenion Theater in Paralimni on Saturday, March 30 20:30 directed by Giorgos Mouaimi.
The comedy stars Stavros Louras, Annita Santoriniou, Erica Begeti, Angelos Hatzimichael.
A work written at the time of Akis Dimos' "The Emptiness in Person" memoranda has as its background the financial crisis and Greek political history from the Dictatorship, the Polytechnic, the Post-colonization and then, up to the "first time on the Left". The sense of failure - individual and collective - is the reason for what we will see on stage in the show directed again for the Tree Theatre, by Giorgos Mouaimis, a year after the artistic and commercial success of the show "Mama".
The author himself defines the work as "a comedy about defeat" and how else since it is a bittersweet comedy - an elaborate stage play with stormy dialogues - which satirizes the morals and pathologies of an apathetic society, comfortable on the couch...
Stavros Louras, Annita Santoriniou, Erica Begeti and Angelos Hatzimikhail embody the four heroes-anti-heroes of the play with an excess of interpretive mastery. Pianist Kyriaki Iakovidou joins them on stage.
A few words about the project
What does a murderous tie have to do with a love trio, a drug show in Madrid with the story of a child with an unknown father, or a phone call from an oncologist with a dinner of fried eels?
Four people, a theater critic, his informal assistant, an internationally successful clothing designer and the mysterious young man who accompanies her, try to close open accounts in a middle-class apartment, in the summer of 2015 in Athens.
The "sofa" as being another role in the play, cannot but symbolize the "settled" debauchery of society.
