The Horaitis couple went to a well-known seaside restaurant known for its fresh fish. They asked the restaurateur before they sat down if he really had fresh fish. To confirm that it was fresh, they asked for and was shown the fish from the fridge. Examiningly, they noticed that one fish's eye was a bit cloudy, but the pair figured that this particular one might be a different one. After all, there are many fish, some of them may be unusual. Eulabios explained to his wife that he might have changed once he saw his wonderful hairy body. They asked for an explanation as to why the fish was unusual although they were not satisfied with the explanations they received.
Unfortunately, the restaurateur who was eccentric, did not allow them to carry out further specialized tests to confirm the freshness of the fish, something unacceptable for a tourist destination. Of course, Mrs. Oxinia Horaiti pointed out to the restaurateur that this was unacceptable and that in Chora they let them "paste" the fish and wash it in salted water to see if it is still "sparta", i.e. fresh!
Then they asked how fresh fish worth 15 euros would be served to them. To their surprise the restaurateur "ejaculated". Inadmissible. After they waited 10 minutes the unacceptable restaurateur brought them 3 mullets ONLY with minimal fries (you see one of the patatua had leftover skin)!
The poor waiter simply left the plate on the table and failed to properly clean the mullet, put a squeeze of lemon and salt on it and feed it to his customers, so therefore the fish had bones in it (and he also failed to tell them when feeding them "come my love, come my angel, eat your fish, thank you for coming to our restaurant")!!! It was only by a miracle that the harm did not happen, since biting the fish's "line" the unsuspecting husband nearly swallowed a bone!! Mr. Choraitis saw Kontizas and called the restaurateur and pointed out the bones he found in the fish!
The couple's disappointment did not end, since the restaurateur treated them to watermelon, which unfortunately and to their surprise had seeds in it! Not the white jeans... but the black ones (the jeans that show when you go to the toilet!!!). Oh the scoundrel! And not only that, they didn't even accept the Zorbas discount card to cut them off the bill!!!
Fortunately, when leaving the restaurant they found a Zorba oven in front of them and ate like people and used their discount card.
In the afternoon of the same day and while swimming at the beach of Agia Triada, they lived an even more terrifying experience. Swimming in the water, a huge fish 3 mm long, bit Mrs. Oxinia below the sole of her foot where there was accumulated yellow skin (5 cm) walking barefoot.
The couple immediately packed up and returned to Nicosia, telling everyone that they would not be returning to Protaras again.
They shared this nightmarish experience on facebook, Instagram, twitter, tik-tok and also submitted written complaints to the Police Directorate of Famagusta and Nicosia, Ministry of Health, Department of Environment, Deputy Ministry of Tourism, European Commission and United Nations. Additionally, they have made an appointment at the Auditor General's office next Friday, where they will meet a Jimesa guy, who is known for his "picking" with the District, particularly on environmental issues.
Such unacceptable behavior both from the restaurateur and from the stray and ungrateful fish that bit down and melted him, are behaviors that drive away the tourists who prefer Protaras and show disrespect and ingratitude to the tourists who come to spend their money.
