A great event will take place for the 4th consecutive year in Ayia Napa to commemorate the unique Battle that took place in Ayia Napa on March 17, 1826 between the Greek Rebels and the Turkish Guards of Ayia Napa - Famagusta.

With a big event that will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024, as part of the celebrations for the National Anniversary of March 25, the Municipality of Ayia Napa and the Association "΄Aroma" Friends of the Sculpture Park of Ayia Napa, will honor with all splendor, for the 4th consecutive time year, the only Battle that took place in Cyprus between Greek Rebels and Turkish Guards of Ayia Napa - Famagusta on March 17, 1826.

The event will take place in the Land Area of ​​the Port, near the Monument, which has been erected in memory of the Battle, at 5.00:XNUMX p.m. and will be attended on behalf of His Excellency the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulidis and the Honorable Minister of Finance Mr. Makis Keravnos who will deliver the Sermon of the Day. The event will also be attended by the Deputy Ministers of Shipping and Culture, Marina Hatzimanoli and Dr. Vasiliki Kassianidou, the Commissioner of the Citizen Panagiotis Palate, Members of Parliament, Mayors and Community Heads of the region, representatives of parties, the Police, the National Guard, Local Bodies, etc.

The program will begin with the parade of the Schools/Associations/Clubs, which will parade together with their Banners and Flags of the Struggle, followed by the lighting of the Flame with the Holy Light by Our Lady of Agia Napa, which they will take to the venue of the event volunteer runners of the Frogmen Reserve Association, the arrival and hanging of the 1821 Race Flags, as well as the arrival by sea of ​​the Cypriot Fighters Revolutionary Race 1821 flag by a group of swimmers of the Frogmen Reserve Association, which will then be delivered to the Honorable Minister of Finance Mr. Maki Keravnos.

The following are the greetings of the Mayor of Ayia Napa Mr. Christos Zannettos and the President of the Association "΄Aroma" Friends of the Sculpture Park of Ayia Napa Mr. Christakis Pitta, and immediately after, the Former Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, Professor of History at the University of Neapolis Mr. George Georgis he will talk about research and the history of the Battle.
An important and historic moment at the event is undoubtedly the signing of the Protocol for the completion of the Twinning process between the Municipality of Ayia Napa and the Municipality of Pogoni, the Municipality to which the Delvinaki Community belongs, the birthplace of the Leader of the Greek Revolutionaries in the Unique Battle that took place in Ayia Napa on the 17 March 1826, Hatzimichalis Daliani. Shortly before the signing of the protocol, a video on the subject of the Delvinaki Community will be shown.

At around 6.30pm, the arrival of the Greek Ship will take place at the Port of Ayia Napa, manned by the Greek Warriors and led by Hatzimichalis Dalianis, where the historical report and reenactment of the Battle will then take place.
After the performance, there is a rich artistic program with traditional dances and songs from the Dance Group of the Municipality of Agia Napa, the Dance Group "Kimon" Xylotympo, the Dance Group "Tradition" Liopetriou, the Cultural Folklore Group Dasous ΄Achnas, the Cultural Group "Emergence" of Paralimni, the Dance Group "THOI" of Avgoros and from the Dance Group of Pogoni - Epirus Region.
