The first Christmas Event without plastic in the province of Famagusta was organized by the Municipality of Sotira on Sunday, December 15 at the Indoor Stadium of Sotira.
The "plastic free" event was held to promote and encourage the reduction of disposable plastic and included only recyclable or paper packaging in collaboration with the program "Keep our Sand and Sea Plastic Free" of the travel agency TUI which is implemented in the province of Famagusta , while it was under the auspices of Environment Commissioner Clelia Vassilios.
At the same time, in the workshop of Santa Claus, the children would be given free ecological bamboo toothbrushes to support the work of the Special School Agios Spyridonas Larnaca.
The program of the event started at 2 at noon with a parade with the Philharmonic Band Harmony of the Municipality of Paralimni and dance groups.
The program included a music program from the Conservatory of Classical and Contemporary Studies of Florence Savva and the Voice and Performance Studio of Iphigenia Sardalou as well as from the Music School of Vassilis Efstathiou and Maria Kofou as well as a dance program by the dance groups of the Youth Center Sotiras with dance , Konstantinos Savvas and Panagiota of Cyprus and the Vision Dance Studio with Choreographers Panagiota Michael and Kiri Kleovoulou.
Afterwards, a fashion show was held with the participation of Sotiras clothing stores, ZAKY for Kids, Dorelian, Motivi and Kosmeo Boutique.
The event culminated with the big Christmas Concert of Thanos Kalliris.
Kiosks were set up in the area by organized ensembles and non-profit organizations selling Christmas food and crafts as well as by the Fella Twins who created unique Christmas delicious creations.
In his greeting, Mayor Sotiras thanked the Committee on Culture, the caretaker and the staff as well as all the participants in the event.
