The 92nd Academy Awards just ended with the Best Picture award going to "Parasite", which won a total of four awards, making history. "Parasites" is the first foreign language film to win the top category in the 92-year history of the awards.
This year, which once again had no presenter, took place in Los Angeles with the Joker leading the way with 11 nominations (including Ben-Hur, Titanic and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) Irishman, 1917 and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood to follow with 10 nominations each.
The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded a total of 24 gold statuettes at this ceremony, in which "1917" and "Parasites" justified the titles of big favorites.
Joaquin Phoenix won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in "The Joker", justifying the predictions that made him a favorite, while the award for Best Actress went to Renee Zellweger for "Judy".
Brad Pitt won the Best Supporting Actor Award, his first big screen role-playing statuette, having won one as a producer in 2014 for his performance in Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."
Laura Dern won her first Oscar - Best Supporting Actress - for her role as a rogue lawyer in Marriage Story.
"Parasite" also won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, with Bong Joon-ho also receiving the Academy Award for Best Director, beating Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Sam Mendes and Todd Phillips. The film also won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
The golden statuette for the best adapted screenplay went to "Jojo Rabbit".
