A message that should concern all of us, posted the REACTION Cyprus Facebook page.
This is a complaint of a mother of a child with special abilities that will shake you:
Dozens of messages in REACTION every day, but a message a few hours ago touched my heart. I talk to my mother on the phone and she conveys her complaint to me about something we all take for granted. We all have children in schools and we all hear every day about their friends and how many tricks they did together. But come on, it's not so given… as my mother told me, crying, her own 10 year old child with special needs has no friends. I thought for a while and I'm sure it's all our fault, gentlemen. We taught our children not to respect and accept a child with special needs or disability. It is a shame for our society, a child to have no friends, not to receive an invitation for the birthday of their classmates. I feel frustrated, as a member of our society, when I know that a child is sitting at the front door of the house waiting for a friend to come and play but no one comes. We have failed as parents and as a society when we did not teach our babies to accept other children. Our children are not born racists; we do!
