Cinema has "stretched out" its hand too many times to get what it can, as inspiration, from life. And how could there not be this "supply" of ideas when the very daily life we experience and the situations that reach our ears and eyes often enter the realm of the unbelievable. The unmanageable.

The horror of the small or big screen has its roots. And we do not have to go far to discover them. As long as we pay a little better attention to the looks or the signs in the house next door. The empty style of the man in front of us in the supermarket queue or the constant stress of the passenger holding the handle on the bus.

We may need to look a little more closely even in places beyond any doubt. Like one church. Authorities in Tangipaho County, New Orleans, need to look a little further at the bizarre disappearances of children from the face of the earth. Maybe they had prevented a savagery of decades.

The "True Detective" that made people turn their eyes to the swamps

The creator of the series "TNick Pizzolato, who captivated millions of viewers around the world, never revealed his source of inspiration. And when we talk about inspiration, we are referring to the first season of the series, the one where Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as detectives unravel the plot of a horrible case even after many years.

Rast Cole and Marty Hart believed that they had closed a rather dark case years ago. Murders, satanic rituals, child abuse were revealed after the coexistence of the two completely unmatched characters years after the painful, for their own mental and physical integrity, affair.

The creator of the series had said that he was inspired by various writers of dark or horror fiction. And one more thing. I did a Google search for the results of the words "Satanism", "school" and "Louisiana". "You can not imagine how many results came out."

The American South and the dark secret in the church

The background of the real story was similar to his T: Sunny, threatening and gothic. Dark silence from vast swamps, fields and poor houses.

A stage spooky. The revelations that came to light in 2005, however, began to unravel a tangle that few would like to unravel. It is not easy to manage the information that dozens of children have been repeatedly raped in satanic rituals for years…

In the spring of 2005, the pastor of the local Hosanna Evangelical Church, Luis David Lamonica Jr., appeared and volunteered at the authorities. There he reportedly abused minors and animals in satanic rituals from 1999 to 2003.

The police presence was calm and stable. Lamonica had not realized the gravity of his actions.

The Temple that functioned as a showcase

"We placed a little girl on a pentacle, slaughtered a cat and bathed the child in her blood. "Since then we have begun to worship Satan." This is how Luis Lamonica began the storytelling of the horror story.

The small community of the town of Pontsatula was proud of the fact that it had so many churches. Probably more than could be attributed to each resident. THE American province and especially that in the South, is characterized by its deep faith while the inhabitants themselves considered that its Christian values are "unshakable".

Hosanna Church was the most popular in the 70s. In its heyday the flock numbered close to 1.000 members. Pastor Lamonika was among the most beloved figures in the area. After 30 years at the helm of the Church he was succeeded by his son, Lamonica Jr. He, on the other hand, was not a loved one.

The flock was dramatically reduced to… 15 individuals.

The details of a horrific confession

The horror experienced by the children began to be revealed after an anonymous phone call to the Sheriff's office. After investigations began to determine whether the anonymous phone call had any basis or not, Lamonika was pressured.

So he decided to speak to the police on his own. The small town was not ready to handle the shocking details.

On the second floor of the church there was a small room which they called "the room of the young"… As Lamonika described the walls and windows were covered with black cardboard and a pentacle was painted on the floor. On the pentacle was a little girl covered in cat blood. There were five other people standing around: the girl's father, Austin Bernard, 36, Lamonica's wife, Robin, Paul Fontenot, 21, Sheriff Chris Lampat, 24, and Patricia Pearson, 56.

According to the descriptions "everyone drank from the cat's blood". More than 25 children, boys and girls, were raped in the middle satanic rituals within 4 years. The ceremonies took place every two months and were usually of a more sexual nature. The sect's menu also included animal slaughter and animal slaughter.

The torment had no end though. The children of the members of the sect were also involved in the abuses. Lamonikas' two sons revealed that they had been sexually abused from a very young age.

They had seen their father having sex with their pet dog, while the "Hosanna satanists" forced them to have sex with each other, to rape the children they brought to the ceremonies, but also to accept Lamonica's "care".

But the pastor did not stay there alone. He had sex with Austin Bernard, who also sexually abused his young daughter.

The latter's wife was revealed to be the one who called the sheriff in the spring of 2005. Vice in a mini-documentary presented almost all aspects of the case.

At the trial that followed, various jokes were heard, including that Lamonika had been brainwashed by a 54-year-old preacher who had persuaded him to "expose his sins". The former pastor annulled his initial testimony and pleaded not guilty. Something that his sons did, thus reinforcing the drama experienced by an entire society.

The court was not convinced by the defendants. Lamonica was sentenced four times to life in prison for sexually abusing his sons. Bernard was sentenced to three life sentences for raping his daughter and Lamonica's sons.
