A completely different lecture on the subject of traffic accidents was held last night at the Open Air Museum of Folk Art of Traditional Professions of the Municipality of Deryneia.
Road safety through the eyes of children…
The traffic accidents through the clear eyes of the children of the kindergarten of the Municipality, are reflected in the children's painting exhibition that took place last night in the Municipality of Deryneia together with the lecture on: "Traffic Accidents. The daily life of a person after a car accident ".
The main speaker was Mr. Stavros Stavrou from Deryneia. Mr. Stavrou had a car accident and since 2012 he is confined to a wheelchair.
He talked about all the difficulties he faces every day, the health problems created by the car accident, the behavior of our fellow human beings towards a person with a disability and the story of Konstantinos Papageorgiou from Kivisili (a village in the province of Larnaca). 18-year-old Konstantinos lost his life in a car accident 10 years ago. He went to the hospital to see his baby who had been born 5 days before. The unfortunate father, if he were alive, would have turned 28 yesterday.
The following issues were also discussed:
• The mental traumas and the negative influence on the personal relationships and the professional career of the victim, which can accompany him for the rest of his life.
• The negative impact on the families and relatives of the victims.
• The cost of surviving a disability from a car accident is unbearable for the victim and for society as a whole.
In the end, they lit candles in memory of all our fellow human beings who lost their lives in a car accident.
