The astronomical sum of 100.000 euros is required to be paid by the families of those students who wish to complete their primary and secondary education at more expensive school all over the world.

In fact, kings and princes, such as King Juan Carlos of Spain, Farouk of Egypt and Albert II of Belgium, as well as Prince Rainier of Monaco, have learned from it.

The reason for the Institute Le Rosey, also known as Le Rosey, in the city of Roll on Lake Geneva in Switzerland, which despite its astronomical tuition has four prospective students for each position. It is one of the oldest schools in Switzerland, founded in 1880 by Paul-Emile Carnal in the 14th century Chateau du Rosey.

Rosey is characterized by a strong tradition of academic excellence, as well as his demanding humanitarian spirit, while studying here is about developing intelligence and highlighting the multiple talents that each student may have hidden.

Despite Le Rosey’s adherence to his traditions, discipline and educational standards, school He has always been a pioneer and pioneer in many pedagogical developments, especially in the fields of language teaching, interculturalism, personal development, the integration of sports and art in everyday life.

The school has two campuses, one in the city of Roll on the shores of Lake Geneva which operates in autumn and spring and one in the winter resort of Gstaad in the Swiss Alps, which transports students, teachers and staff from January to March. This transfer began in 1916, in order to avoid the heavy foggy veil that covers the lake between these months.

The history of the school

The only image that shows what the castle where the school first operated actually looked like is a 1669 watercolor inside the premises of the institution.

The castle Located in the center of the Roll campus, it dates back to the Middle Ages and houses Rosey's main reception area. This place was chosen by the founder of the school Paul- Emile Carnal, as he was a lover of nature, history and countryside.

Five generations of principals - who have always owned Le Rosey - to this day have worked tirelessly to strengthen in every way they can this special educational institution that provides students with an international education.

Prior to the introduction of the 10% rate - the percentage of students from the same country could not exceed 10% of total students - different nationalities "dominated" Rosey from time to time. Thus, in the 50s and 60s the majority of students were Americans, Italians and Greeks, in the 70s Arabs and Iranians, while in the 80s Chinese and Koreans and in the 90s Russians.

Η campus in Roll spreads over a green area of 28 acres, full of trees that embrace both the dormitories and the sports facilities of the school. Modern educational, sports and artistic facilities are the potential of the school, in this wonderful location.

Students, depending on their age, are accommodated in comfortable and spacious rooms single or double, while they have the opportunity to configure their personal space as they wish, as the purpose is to feel familiar and to be able to work in them so much, as well as relax. The girls - who were admitted to Rosey in 1967 - are housed on a separate campus set up just for them in a beautiful park, a few meters from the boys' existing one.

One of the most beautiful and popular mountain villages in Europe, the cosmopolitan winter resort From January to March, Gstaad becomes Rosey's student base. The institution here has its own chalets, enabling both students and teachers to live and work there with all comforts and facilities.

The only differences with the rest of the program that follow in the facilities of Roll is the fact that here the lessons take place only in the mornings, including Saturday, with the exception of Thursday, during which the lessons are all day. The remaining afternoons of the week are intended for children to engage in snow and ice sports.

One of the most characteristic points of the institute, which makes it unique compared to the rest of its class, the transfer to the winter season in Gstaad, in addition to being beneficial for the health of the students, gives them the opportunity to enjoy an extremely interesting academic year.

An "ordinary" day at school

In no case does a day of study at Rosey have anything in common with those we have experienced in Greece. The day for the students here starts at 7 in the morning, who as soon as they wake up take a bath, make their bed and tidy up their room, to go to the breakfast area for the first meal of the day.

From 08.00-12.20 they attend six classes with a break right after for a cup of hot chocolate - do not forget that they are in Switzerland- and return to class for three more lessons from 13.30-15.30.

The period between 16.00-19.00 is dedicated to sports and arts. Rosey enables its students to choose from a wide range of activities that interest them, provided there is a proper balance between the two categories.

Dinner is served at 19.30 with a formal dress code (the boys wear bezers and a tie), while each student sits in the seat in front of which there is a towel with his name! In each table there is space for 6-8 students and 1-2 teachers, every time an adult enters the room the children get up and can not leave the table unless the principal "allows" them beforehand.

Shortly after 20.00 the students start preparing for the next day, in the room or in the study rooms - depending on the lesson and the teacher. Of course, various lectures, cultural events, etc. are not excluded from the program.
