The day that dawned for our country is perhaps one of the most tragic in its modern history. With the number of dead rising dramatically hour by hour after the devastation left behind by yesterday's fires in Kinetta, Penteli, Nea Makri, Mati, Neo Voutza and Kalamos, people are counting losses and damages.
Property was destroyed and according to information, Anna Vissi's sister, Niki Vissi is among those affected by the deadly fires. Niki, according to tlife, had a house in Mati which burned down completely. Niki Vissi, who was in Thessaloniki with her sister Anna, described the nightmarish moments her family experienced:
"Our house burned down completely! There is nothing left in the Eye… These things do not happen, people died, it is unbelievable. We live in a tragedy. I was with Anna in Thessaloniki for her concert and I learned what was happening over the phone. In my house were my husband, my children and my mother. The children grabbed my mother by car and left. Anna is by our side… A while ago she took our mother to her house… This was our main residence… Okay we have to stay somewhere, but now we are in the area, in Mati and at home and we are collecting the debris… ".
