Robot serves drinks at a bar in Tokyo (video)

Bar, Robot

A Tokyo restaurant chain has opened a small pub in one of the city's busiest train stations, with a robot-serving bartender serving drinks for those returning from work and wanting to have a drink at home.

The store is called Zeroken Robo and is located on Tokyo's busy Ikebukuro train station and is owned by Yoronotaki, a company that operates an izakaya-type restaurant chain across the country.

The small space opened on January 23 and will run until March 19, as it is part of a pilot program, with the aim of showing how customers who are served by a machine instead of a human are responding.

Customers first pay for their drinks at an automatic payment machine and receive a proof of code, which they present to the robot.

After the robot scans the code, it then makes the drink.
