A special event celebrating 20 years of InterNapa College was held on November 21 in conjunction with the graduation of the Class of 2023.
The event was attended by the Speaker of the Parliament Mrs. Annita Dimitriou who, as she mentioned through her speech, has special ties and deep feelings with the college as she served as a professor at InterNapa College at the beginning of her academic career.
In the context of the 20th anniversary of InterNapa College, the president of the Parliament Mrs. Annita Dimitriou, former and current academics and administrative staff were honored for their many years of valuable contribution to the college.
In his speech, the CEO of InterNapa College, Mr. George Takka, mentioned that the whole course of InterNapa was not easy as the hours of work were thousands, especially at the beginning, but also the kilometers traveled abroad.
Mr. Takka pointed out that despite the difficulties, nothing stopped the ideas of the college since he pioneered the creation of the first multi-educational school in Cyprus in 1993 and then the first college in the free province of Famagusta in 2003.
"We managed to evaluate 12 different programs by 2014. In 2015 we made the decision to focus on hotels to actually support the large hotel industry in the region."
In his speech, Mr. Georgios Takkas emphasized that in 2020 the Master in Business Administration was registered and certified, which is the first in the province of Famagusta and serves the needs of the free province of Famagusta by giving students the opportunity for a valuable postgraduate degree with the corresponding knowledge for a more rewarding career and prospects.
Mr. Takkas also mentioned that “in 2021 we wrote and evaluated the first academic professional study program in Europe Bartender. In 2021-2022 we proceeded to complete the second floor of the college with modern and technologically upgraded facilities. The investment was 450 thousand euros and doubled the capacity to 824 seats. Also in 2022 the college was recognized as one of the best Universities-Colleges in the field of research".
InterNapa College in its 20 years of operation in 2003 becomes the first approved college in the province of Famagusta by the Ministry of Education, in 2010 it becomes the first college to offer an assessed degree in the province of Famagusta and specifically in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Likewise, in 2020 it becomes the first college to offer an assessed master's degree in the province of Famagusta, more specifically in Business Administration.
In 2021 it becomes the first college pan-European to offer an academic study program in Bartending.
Also, in 2022, it becomes the first college of the province of Famagusta to be included in the list of the best colleges and universities in Cyprus in terms of research, according to the AD Scientific Index.
