With the eyes fixed on Achna and the unquenchable desire to return to their ancestral homes, the Day of Remembrance of Occupied Achna took place again this year.
The residents marched towards the dead zone of Achnas and with their eyes on Agia Marina, they expressed their just demand and their unwavering will to return, no matter how many years pass.
With prayers, speeches and recitations of poems, the state, the church, organized groups and ordinary citizens condemned the black anniversary of the occupation by Attila the Turk in 1974.
The State was represented by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Yiannis Toumazis, who is originally from Achna.
In the presence of the icon of Agia Marina, the priests of the Community prayed for the return to Achna and the departure of the Turkish troops, while the legal residents expressed through their poetry... the longing for return.
A day of remembrance was also held by the legal residents of Occupied Acheritou at the Church of Agios Dimitrios in the refugee Settlement of Agios Georgios Vrysoullon - Acheritou.
The event was held under the auspices of the Commissioner of the Presidency, Mr. Fotis Fotiou.
