Within the framework of the events of the 17th Medieval Festival of Ayia Napa, the Group Exhibition "Cyprus: Yesterday and Today" will be hosted from October 08-15 at the "Talassa" Municipal Museum.

The exhibition features the artists Vassilis Mitas, painter, the former MEP Antigoni Papadopoulou, the former bank manager Mr. Nikos Hatzinikolaou and the doctor Aphrodite Nikolaou with 21 works, which have as a common element the depiction of reality through the eyes of the soul every artist. Through their works, the four artists seek to investigate, seek and reconstruct, with the colors of the soul and with an inexhaustible romantic realism, the Cyprus of yesterday and today, resisting through art everything that happens in an era of intense value crisis and lack of balance.

The exhibition was visited on Saturday 08 October by the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Mr. Kyriakos Kokkinos and the Mayor of Ayia Napa Mr. Christos Zannettou. Mr. Kokkinos impressed by the level of works of the artists hosted in the exhibition also expressed his admiration for the artists, who continue to create in a semi-occupied homeland and foreign visitors can see the work produced against all odds happening in the world and in our microcosm.

The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannettou, expressed his satisfaction with the fact that a very important exhibition of notable Cypriot Artists is being hosted at the "Talassa" Museum as part of the 17th Medieval Festival and congratulated the artists for the very important works they present at the exhibition .

Mrs. Antigoni Papadopoulou spoke on behalf of the artists, who said that the group creates works that stand the test of time sculpted with aesthetic cultivation, approaching the Cypriot reality with a tendency to escape from all the ugliness that suffocates us. He also added that the group is moved by the Beautiful, the Pure, the True, the landscape, the light, the man, the flowers, the traditions, our timeless values as saved through the centuries with the stubbornness of a people who know how to fight against the winds. Finally, as all the artists said, they convey through the canvas authentically, genuinely and truly what the eyes of their soul see about the "Cyprus of yesterday and today" that they always have in their hearts.
