The first meeting of the Temporary Provincial Council of Famagusta took place at the Ayia Napa Town Hall last Friday, June 16, 2023, under the chairmanship of the Mayor of Paralimni Theodoros Pyrillis and in the presence of the Minister of the Interior Konstantinos Ioannou.
The meeting was attended by the Mayors and Community Leaders of the free province, the Famagusta District, representatives of the Town Planning Department, the Sewerage Councils and the Waste Management Council as well as Officials of the Ministry of the Interior.
The Mayors and Community Leaders were informed by the Ministry of Interior Officers about the legislation concerning the Provincial Self-Government Organizations, while a detailed schedule of actions was discussed.
The discussion focused on the issue of appointing a Transitional Administrator of the Interim Provincial Council, where different opinions were heard.
The next meeting will be held on June 28 at Sotiras Town Hall.
