The Republic of Cyprus will use all the legal measures that international law and the UN Charter dictate and allow to stop the Turkish plans to open the enclosed city of Famagusta and the challenges in the Cypriot EEZ. This was stated tonight by the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis while attending the anti-occupation event of the Municipality of Famagusta organized at the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Deryneia, next to the roadblock.

Asked about the statements of the Turkish Foreign Minister that "Varosia must be opened", President Anastasiadis pointed out that "we will not omit the complaints and the targeted measures on the part of Europe".

"We will do what we need to do in order to prevent threats and actions that affect not only Famagusta but also the occupied territories."
