Andreas Vrachimis has officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of Famagusta.

The same announcement:

Friends from Famagusta,
I address you with great love and respect for our beloved city of Famagusta.
The city that gave birth to us, a city deeply rooted in our soul and mind. Hope and competitiveness more than ever, must not fade.
What unites us, is more than what has scattered us, fifty years now.
It's our sea, it's our neighborhoods, it's our houses, our churches, that shape us. It is the schools and the moments that we browse through photos. It's our story...
I am running for the office of Mayor, fully aware of the responsibility and mission at this critical juncture.
From my experience as a Municipal Councillor, I know first hand the efforts, contacts and actions to keep the issue of Famagusta open.
The difficulties and challenges of everyday life, the rapid speeds and the changing data, often make us bend.
It is here that we must persevere, persevere with the desire to return, keep the flame unquenchable, but also roll up our sleeves by resisting every new challenge.
United for the Varosi of tomorrow
Let's be a rampart, to any development that removes the rightful owners from their properties.
To focus on creating conditions that promote peace, reconciliation and prosperity for all residents.
Let's put Famagusta back on track for discussion and be the starting point for a Cyprus free of occupation troops.
We have no illusions, but with realism, plan and strategy, to achieve conditions of prosperity for E/C and T/C.
My wish is that Famagusta is in the future of our children, free and free from symbols that scratch wounds. Let it not be a distant narrative, a bitter taste.
It is my vision that we walk as soon as possible in a free land, with the orange groves burning, the sands shining and the windmills blowing the wind of freedom.
Let the steeples come to life, let happy voices fill schools, coffee shops and unlock the doors of businesses that were closed... the day time froze for us.
I claim your vote, for a Varosi without barbed wire, for a common tomorrow. We claim Famagusta so that hope will soon rise and peace will prevail.
United, we put Famagusta forward again!
