Oktay - Tatar agreed to open Varos as soon as possible

Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay and Ersin Tatar reached a joint consensus on the opening of Varos as soon as possible during their contacts in Ankara. Oktay and Tatar also agreed to "continue the determination and co-operation to protect the rights of Turkish Cypriots in the Eastern Mediterranean".

In a written statement, the Turkish Vice President states that he met today in Ankara with Ersin Tatar to assess the results of the "Turkey-Turkey Economic Cooperation Agreement". The statement said that they agreed to "continue the process in the context of Turkey's support to the Turkish Cypriots in the fight against the pandemic."

In this context, they concluded that "within this year, work will begin on the creation of a pandemic hospital equipped with high technology with 100 beds in intensive care units in 'tdvk'".

The repair works of the water transfer pipeline from Anamur, Turkey to the occupied territories and the resumption of water supply have been completed in October 2020. According to Fuat Oktay, they also agreed "to continue supporting the economy of 'tdbk', to boost economic relations and to effectively implement the 'economic financial cooperation agreement 2020'".

There was also a "common consensus to maintain determination and co-operation to protect the legal rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriots in the Eastern Mediterranean" but also "to speed up efforts to open Varos as soon as possible".
