The President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis had a meeting with a delegation of the Municipality of Famagusta on Thursday at the Presidential Palace, headed by the Mayor of Famagusta Dr. Simos Ioannou, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulidis.
According to a written statement by Government Spokesman Kyriakos Kousiou, the President briefed the Government on the actions taken by the Government to stop Turkey's illegal activities in the enclosed city of Famagusta, which are in flagrant violation of UN law and the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions. .
President Anastasiadis, according to the Government Spokesman, referred extensively to the briefing, in which he proceeded in various directions in relation to the violations of Turkey in Famagusta and specifically to the actions of himself and the Government to the UN Secretary General both in writing and orally.
He also referred to his telephone conversations on the Famagusta issue with foreign officials, most recently with the UK Foreign Secretary, European institutions, such as the EU High Representative, as well as his Special Envoy. UN Secretary General who is expected to be in Cyprus at the end of this month.
The President of the Republic informed the delegation of the Municipality of Famagusta about other steps and actions that are underway on the part of the Cypriot Government.
