Mayor of Famagusta: He informed the Israeli Ambassador about the Municipality's missions to the European Parliament

The Ambassador said that he is following the developments that mainly concern Turkey's illegal actions in Famagusta

Delegation of the Municipality of Famagusta led by the Mayor Dr. On Friday, March 8, 2024, Simos Ioannou had a meeting with the Ambassador of Israel to Cyprus, Mr. Oren Anolik, following his initiative.

According to the announcement of the Municipality, "during the meeting, the bonds of friendship that have forever linked Cyprus and Israel were reaffirmed and the common will to strengthen the dialogue and support for the issue of Famagusta was expressed. The Mayor informed the Ambassador about the actions of the Municipal Council regarding the steps being taken to return Famagusta to its legal residents based on the UN resolutions and the actions of the Municipality in this direction. The Ambassador was also informed about the recent missions of the Municipality to the European Parliament following the invitation of the President of our European Parliament, Mrs. Roberta Metsola, to the USA for meetings at the Congress, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UN as well as the upcoming actions proposed by the Municipality Famagusta to proceed before the end of his current term".

The Ambassador stated that he is following the developments concerning mainly Turkey's illegal actions in Famagusta and promised to the extent that it is his responsibility to do the maximum he can so that Famagusta is the key to the solution of the Cyprus problem.

The Municipality's delegation consisted of the Mayor Dr. Simos Ioannou, the Deputy Mayor and representative of AKEL, Mr. Chrysantho Zannetou, the representative of DISY, Mr. Giorgos Hatzitheodosios and the representative of DIKO, Mr. Giorgos Tsisios.
