At 12.30 pm, at the offices of the District Administration of Famagusta in Larnaca, the submission of candidacies for the mayoralty of occupied Famagusta was completed.

In his statements, the District of Famagusta, George Chrysafinis, stated that “the submission of candidacies for the by-election of the Mayor of Famagusta has been completed. A total of five candidacies have been submitted according to the formula defined by the Law ".

In alphabetical order, the candidates are "Ioannou Simos, Karoulas Nikos, Lord Andreas, Papagiannis Linos and Stavri Georgios".

He added that out of the five "Mr. Papagiannis is a party candidate while the rest come down as independents. "Within 24 hours, any objection can be submitted by voters registered in the list, which, even if they are submitted, will be examined".

After examining any objections, he continued, "We will proceed with the election process that will take place on Sunday, August 25." The preparation is at an advanced stage and it is expected that a total of 44 centers will operate in Municipalities and Communities of free Cyprus ".

He noted that "voters amount to 31,589. In the province of Limassol there are the most voters and in total around 12,500, in the province of Larnaca there are around 10 thousand, in Nicosia it is 4,500, in the free province of Famagusta 3,500 while in the province of Paphos there are 1,200 voters ".
